Llanddoget is a very small parish, made up of one township, Esgrogeunen. The church was mentioned in the Lincoln Taxation of 1291. The old church was remodelled/restored in 1838/1839, at a cost of £490. The church was in Denbighshire until 1974; and in Gwynedd from 1974 until 1996. It is now in Conwy County Borough.
