|
Marchwiel is one of the "ancient parishes" of Denbighshire. It comprised two townships - Marchwiel and Sontley. The church was rebuilt in 1778, and the tower was built in 1789. The church was enlarged in 1829. The church was in Denbighshire until 1974; and in Clwyd from 1974 until 1996. It is now in Wrexham County Borough.
