| Clwyd Family History Society - Church Photographs |
|
All the photographs on this website were taken by Jen and Vic Roberts, of Clwyd Family History Society, and are the copyright of the Society. They are "conventional" photographs - i.e. 35 millimetre film, resulting in standard 6" x 4" prints. Selected prints were scanned, at a resolution of about 85 pixels per inch. The resulting images were cropped and trimmed in order to "fit" the screen of the average PC user. The majority of the photographs are in landscape format, and these have been cropped to a width of 500 pixels. The pages will therefore be seen to their best advantage at a screen resolution of 1024 x 768, although they are quite satisfactory at 800 x 600. (These resolutions are said to be the two most popular settings for home computer users). In order to reduce download time, the images have been compressed, quite heavily, into "JPEG" format; and, as usual, there has been a compromise between download time and image quality. Most of the compressed images are about 40 to 50 kilobytes in size, which means that, using a "56K" modem, each page should download in about 12 to 15 seconds. Please note that, if any attempt is made to enlarge the images, their quality will deteriorate dramatically. In general, it should be possible to print each page on to a single sheet of "A4" paper. When viewing web pages "on-line", it is always a good idea to click the "refresh" or "reload" icon at the top of the screen. This will ensure that you will be looking at the latest version of the page, rather than a "cached" version which your browser may have stored during a previous visit to the website.
