Holt
The Holt War Memorial commemorates those men of the area who died
in two world wars. The war memorial is located at the junction of Frog Lane,
The Cross and Castle Street, in the centre of the town.
The memorial
takes the form of stone obelisk standing on a square plinth and stepped
base and is surrounded by metal railings. It was dedicated on the 1st August,
1920.
The historic town of Holt lies on the west bank of the River Dee, in the county borough of Wrexham. The town is connected by bridge to the neighbouring town of Farndon across the river in Cheshire, England. Until 1974, Holt was in the historic county of Denbighshire and, from 1974 to 1996, in the county of Clwyd.
