Ruabon War Memorial

Ruabon

Rhiwabon

The Ruabon War Memorial commemorates those men of the area who died in World War I and World War II. It takes the form of a lychgate, at the entrance to St Mary's Parish Church. The memorial was designed by the Wrexham architect, T H Hogg, and was built of local Cefn stone and Wynnstay oak. Marble slabs are inscribed with the names of the war dead. The gate was dedicated on 31 October 1920.

The village, community and ecclesiastical parish of Ruabon (Welsh: Rhiwabon) lies in a former heavily industrialised area in the county borough of Wrexham. Until 1974 Ruabon was in the historic county of Denbighshire and, from 1974 to 1996, in the county of Clwyd.

The churchyard also contains the Lindisfarne College War Memorial which commemorates those former students of the college who died in two world wars.
